Case study · Mexican brands

Three Mexican favourites, in copper and silver

The Pelón Pelo Rico mascot, a smiling candy tube with spiky hair, arms open, sculpted in copper

Café Oro, Lucas and Pelón Pelo Rico are part of everyday life in Mexico. D’Argenta made each of them as a sculpture — two in copper, one in silver.

The pieces

  • A Café Oro coffee jar with coffee beans beside it, in copper

  • The Lucas mascot with crossed arms, in silver on a black base

Choosing the metal for the brand

Copper suits Café Oro: it is the colour of roasted coffee, and the jar sits beside beans so oversized they become sculpture in their own right. It suits Pelón Pelo Rico too — warm, playful and a little irreverent, like the candy.

Lucas went to silver, which sharpens the character’s attitude: arms crossed, chin up. The same brief in a different metal would have made a different piece.

A brand people grew up with

Brands that are part of a country’s childhood have something most luxury brands never get: affection. A sculpture of that character is a gift people keep for the memory as much as for the metal — for distributors, retailers, long-serving staff or a brand’s own anniversary.
